Our Sustainable Slow Fashion Process

OUR MATERIALS

Aligned with our ethics and values, we choose environmentally friendly and humane fibers: non-mulesed wool and organic cotton. Our high-quality materials are carefully sourced from mills in France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, allowing us to control manufacturing conditions. This ensures non-toxic materials that are safe for your health and the environment, while also ensuring the well-being of animals and the planet.

ARTISAN MADE

Behind our garments are skilled artisans and yarn manufacturers. Each piece tells their story. We launched L'Envers to create an ethical, sustainable brand that celebrates them. From pattern sketching to dyeing, everything is exclusively designed for L'Envers with carefully selected yarns. We've built strong relationships with local workshops, ensuring good working conditions, minimal impact, and lasting quality.

ABOUT US

Since 2015, L’Envers has aimed to design fewer, better-made pieces. We believe quality is an investment in the future and that clothing should be created mindfully for slow consumption. Our planet deserves less waste and pollution, which is why we offer seasonless pieces. Free from seasonal trends, our timeless editions are designed to stand the test of time and outlive fast fads.

Red Knitwear: Color With Character, Crafted to Last

Certain colors ask to be worn quietly. Red is not one of them. It carries warmth, confidence, and a kind of ease that no neutral quite manages, which is why it remains one of the most requested shades within our workshops

At L'Envers, red knitwear is worked in the same noble fibers and unhurried techniques as the rest of the collection: merino wool for depth of color and structure, organic cotton for lightness and softness against the skin.

Our red knitwear collection brings together sweaters, cardigans, tops, and dresses in shades of red that range from a deep, grounded rust to a brighter, more playful tone.

The Character of Red Knitwear Sweater

Red behaves differently from most colors in a knitted piece. It catches light, it draws the eye first, and it tends to become the anchor of an outfit rather than a supporting note. A few reasons it earns a permanent place in the wardrobe rather than a single season.

It flatters more often than expected. Red carries warm and cool undertones depending on the dye and the fiber, which means there is very often a shade that suits a given skin tone, from a warm brick red to a cooler cherry.

It pairs easily with what already exists in a wardrobe. Denim, camel, cream, black, and grey all sit comfortably beside red, which makes a single red piece far more versatile than its boldness might suggest.

For those who want to build a fuller picture of the shade, the collection sits alongside other tones in the range, including powder pink, bright blue and beige, and plum for those building a wider palette.

The Warmth of a Red Wool Sweater

Wool remains our first choice for the deepest, most grounded reds in the collection, and for good reason. A few advantages worth knowing before choosing between fibers.

Genuine warmth without excess weight.

Wool fibers trap air naturally, which means a fine knit red wool sweater can carry real insulation without the bulk of a heavier piece. This is part of why our merino wool knitwear remains a cornerstone of the colder months.

A richer, more saturated finish

Wool takes dye differently from cotton, holding onto pigment in a way that gives red a depth and warmth that cotton rarely matches. This is often the piece people reach for when they want the color to feel most intentional.

Breathability for milder days.

Cotton allows more airflow than wool, which makes a red cotton sweater comfortable through early autumn or a cool summer evening without the warmth becoming excessive.

A softer hand against the skin.

Cotton knits tend to feel smoother and less textured than wool, which suits those who prefer their knitwear worn directly against bare skin, layered under a jacket or worn alone.

How to Wear a Red Cotton Jumper

A red cotton jumper carries a lighter, more relaxed energy than its wool counterpart, and it rewards a slightly different approach to styling. A few ways we return to it through the year.

With Denim and White

Simple, considered, and endlessly repeatable. A red cotton jumper over straight-leg jeans and white sneakers lets the color do the work without any other piece competing for attention.

Tucked Into a Midi Skirt

Tucked loosely into a skirt in cream, black, or camel, the jumper takes on a slightly more polished shape, suited to a lunch or an afternoon that moves from casual to something a touch more considered.

Layered Under a Jacket

For cooler days, a red cotton jumper worn beneath a neutral jacket or coat offers a flash of color at the collar and cuffs rather than announcing itself all at once.

Beyond Red: Exploring the Wider Collection

Red knitwear belongs to a much larger world of color and material within L'Envers. The full sustainable knitwear collection brings together every fiber and shade we work with, while those who prefer a cooler palette can look toward pearl grey or navy blue.

What You May Wish to Know From our Red Knitwear

Wool pieces hold a deeper, more saturated red and offer more warmth, which suits colder months and pieces worn as an outer layer. Cotton pieces are lighter, cooler to wear, and generally easier to care for, which makes them better suited to milder days or wearing directly against the skin.

Both fibers are dyed to hold their color well, though following the specific care instructions for each piece makes a real difference over time. Washing in cold water, avoiding direct sunlight during drying, and keeping red pieces separate from very light colors during the first few washes all help preserve the depth of the shade.

Wool benefits from cold hand washing or a gentle wool cycle, followed by drying flat rather than hanging. Cotton is generally more forgiving and can often tolerate a gentle machine wash, though it should still be dried flat to avoid stretching. Our wash and care guide for wool covers the wool process in detail.

It depends on the silhouette you want. A fitted size lets the color read as a considered layer under a coat or jacket, while a size up gives a more relaxed, oversized shape that suits casual styling.

Our size guide offers detailed measurements for each piece in the collection.

Every piece is made by hand in family-run ateliers in Spain, using the same techniques applied across the full collection regardless of color or fiber. Small-batch production allows closer attention to dye consistency and finish, which matters particularly with a color as exacting as red.
