Flabelus was born in July 2020, transforming the classic Spanish espadrille into an elegant, refined footwear staple.

Each pair is meticulously sewn in Spain by artisans specialized in espadrille-making. While the structure and design have been reimagined, the essence of the traditional espadrille remains—now elevated into a Flabelus.

Timeless, uniquely designed, and crafted with over a century of Spanish expertise, Flabelus is also committed to eco-responsibility. Sustainability and entrepreneurship have been at the heart of the brand since its inception.

Since 2015, Aurélia Maës, the creator of Maison Mönik, has been working with shells, clay, bronze, and other raw materials in her Biarritz workshop—without prioritizing one over the other.

Her signature? Shells, especially the cowrie shell, which she discovered during a life-changing visit to Gorée Island, where these delicate white shells are traditionally used for fortune-telling. Fascinated by Africa, its exoticism, and its rituals, she has infused these influences into the DNA of her creations.

Through her travels and encounters around the world, Aurélia has developed a jewelry line blending ethnic and raw inspirations with a subtle touch of femininity. Her designs are deeply rooted in the 80s aesthetic, reflecting her passion for primitive and natural elements, such as the recycled vinyl beads from Africa that she has incorporated since the beginning.
