HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT SIZE?

At L’Envers, we believe that clothing should fit both your body and your values. To help you select the perfect size for our timeless, ethically crafted pieces, we’ve created this simple guide to measuring your garments at home. Measuring a garment you already own and love and comparing it to the size guide of the item you’re considering buying. That’s the safest way to pick the right size for you. It takes the guesswork out of online shopping and ensures that your new L’Envers piece will fit just the way you like.
What You’ll Need
- A flexible measuring tape
- A flat surface (like a table or bed)
- A favorite garment that fits you well
STEP-BY-STEP : HOW TO MEASURE
1. Lay the Garment Flat
Place your chosen garment on a flat surface, smoothing out any wrinkles without stretching the fabric. Close the buttons if the garment has any.
2. Measure Key Areas
For a top (top/cardigan/sweater) or a dress:
- Chest width: Measure the width from one side to the other, at armpit level.
- Length of the garment: Measure the length of the garment from the top of the shoulder (the highest point of the shoulder, which marks the beginning of the neck) to the bottom (preferably at the waist or hips for a sweater and to the shin or ankle for dresses).
- Shoulder width: Measure the distance between the collar seam (at the base of the neck and on the shoulder) and the sleeve seam (which can be at the point of the shoulder or slightly over the beginning of the arm for dropped sleeves). Models with raglan sleeves (sleeves that are directly connected to the collar seam) do not have this measurement. Sleeve length: from the shoulder seam (which can be at the tip of the shoulder or slightly at the start of the arm for dropped sleeves) to the bottom of the sleeve (usually the wrist for long sleeves and the middle of the arm for short sleeves).
For bottoms (shorts/skirt/pants):
- Waist width: Measure the width from one side to the other at the waist, i.e., the narrowest part of the garment/body.
- Hip width: Measure the width from one side to the other at the hip, i.e., the widest part of the garment/body.
- Height: Measure the height of the garment, including the waistband, from the top of the garment to the bottom.
To know the correct measurement points, you can also refer to the diagram on the size guide for each product page.
3. Compare with L’Envers Size Guide
Once you have your measurements, refer to the L’Envers size guide available on each product page. Our knits often have a comfortable, even loose fit. If you're between sizes, consider your preference: fitted or relaxed?
It's also important to keep in mind that textile production is not an exact science; there are always tolerances, especially in artisanal knitwear, of +/- 2 cm compared to the dimensions indicated in the size guide.

Tips for a Perfect Fit
- Consider the Fit Style: Some L’Envers pieces are designed to be oversized, while others have a more fitted silhouette. Refer to the product description for guidance.
- Account for Stretch: Our knitwear may stretch slightly over time. If you prefer a tighter fit, you might choose the smaller size.
- Check Model Measurements: Product pages often include the model’s body measurements and the size they’re wearing, which can help you visualize the fit.
