MEND YOUR KNIT

We make garments that last, although a stitch can break for various reasons, we can still fix it to make sure you keep wearing your knits for years. We have prepared a little tutorial so that everyone can easily (and with very few tools) mend a hole.

IF IT'S A LITTLE HOLE

  • Scissors
  • The yarn we send along with our pieces (or choose a different color if you would like to make the repair a design feature)
  •  A needle.
  • Thread the needle and tie the end with a double knot. Do a running stitch about half a centimeter around the hole to prevent it from getting any bigger.
  • Starting 1cm to the side of the hole and 1cm underneath it create a vertical running stitch. Make the rows as close together as possible. Once you reach the hole, pass the thread over it and continue for another centimeter then turn back and create your next row. Repeat until the hole is covered.
  • Repeat step 2 horizontally, weaving the thread through the vertical ones. Finish by weaving the thread to the inside of the garment. Tie a knot and snip the thread.

IF IT'S A BIG HOLE

  • A patch of fabric bigger than the hole
  • Scissors
  • The yarn we send along with our pieces (or choose a different color if you would like to make the repair a design feature)
  •  A needle.
  • Do a running stitch about half a centimeter around the hole to prevent it from getting any bigger.
  • Place the patch over the hole and pin to secure it.
  • Sew around the edges by hand, using either a blanket stitch or a running stitch. Weave the thread to the inside of the garment, tie a knot and cut the remainder.
